Duchess Kate wears red to Copenhagen to raise awareness for UNICEF

I'm very excited to report William and Kate arrived in Copehagen today to raise awareness for UNICEF. Huge numbers from the press turned out to see the arrival of the royal couple. They joined Prince Frederik and Princess Mary at the palace for a private lunch. The palace is adorned by contemporary art and has been recently renovated. Like Kate, Princess Mary was a 'commoner' before marrying Prince Frederik. (She didn't know he was a Prince when they met) I was struck by how similar Mary and Kate look, Do any of you think they look quite alike? I imagine the pair had plenty to discuss over lunch....

Duchess Kate then travelled to the UNICEF supply centre with Princess Mary while Prince William and Prince Frederik arrived in a separate car. The royals then heard about life for children affected by the crisis and helped pack supplies getting ready for delivery.  You can watch the video Here. The royals also met UNICEF ambassador and former James Bond actor Roger Moore.

Prince William tasted the high energy paste used to treat severe malnourishment, Kate declined to try it. (It's supposedly similar to peanut butter)

Princess Mary and Duchess Kate reportedly got on like 'a house on fire'. While it wasn't a social occasion Denmark's future Queen welcome Kate with open arms and the pair seem very fond of each other. They are two of the worlds most loved, down to earth royals and I do hope we see more of them together in the future.

Duchess Kate looks beautiful as always, wearing the red L.K. Bennett Ami coat. (With many thanks to the amazingly talented Susan from What Kate Wore and to Get What Kate Wore ) The burgundy coat is currently selling for £276 on sale. L.K. Bennett is truly one of Kate's favourites she normally opts for their shoes, this coat was a stunning choice for today. It is described as

"Sharp tailoring lends itself to a flattering silhouette with the Ami coat. Made in a rich wool mix, this belted coat has a striking collar and is fully lined".

Duchess Kate wore a red dress underneath her coat, as she didn't take her coat off we do not know who the designer is. However the lovely ladies at What Kate Wore discovered Kate's belt is by Reiss from 2008 and is called the Bessie Belt. (With thanks to Duchess of Cambridge style for the photo)

The Duchess has always been a fan of suede boots, She gets quite a lot of criticism for wearing them but I think they suit her and are the perfect footwear for the winter. Today, Kate wore Stuart Weitzman Zipkin black suede boots. The four inch boots with a gold zipper are available for $635.

Kate's accessories were stunning today. She wore the charm bracelet Camilla reportedly gave her as a present. The disc charm has 'Catherine's' monogram on one side and Camilla's on the other.

Kate's gorgeous Vinnie Day gold plated logo leaf earrings are currently available for £100. They are described as

"These are a wonderful pair of earrings which we find never go out of fashion. They are easy to wear both day and night. Comfortable to keep in the ears".

William and Kate made a private donation via their foundation to the east Africa crisis. However millions of children still need life saving assistance as the drought continues. I have been researching the work UNICEF do and it is truly inspiring. Sadly UNICEF face a $40 million shortfall and require donations to help the thirteen million people facing famine in east Africa. William and Kate hope their visit raises awareness and gains support for this essential, life saving work. You can donate Here.

I must say Kate did a splendid job today, She was completely at ease in Copenhagen with the Danish royal couple and she looked stunning. I think her fashion choices are actually getting better with each event. In an interview with the BBC Duchess Kate spoke eloquently about the 'terrible situation' occuring in east Africa and one could tell she was genuinely concerned and understanding. Kate said

"It's really just how shocking the situation still is.I think it was initially a very big story . A lot of people did hear about it, but I think because it has been going on, people have perhaps lost track of the terrible situation. So I think this, hopefully, will put the light back on this crisis".

William and Kate to visit Copenhagen next week, The couple's official photograph and where Kate was spotted today

In yesterdays post, I was delighted to add the royal couple would be attending a concert in December. However we will be seeing the couple much sooner than that! William and Kate are due to visit UNICEFs emergency centre in Copenhagen next Wednesday, November 2 2011. They will tour the centre and help pack emergency supplies. This is very exciting news as they will be joined by The Crown Prince and Princess of Denmark, If you are not familiar with them, they are a very down to earth couple and serve their country wonderfully. Princess Mary of Denmark worked as a solicitor before marrying the Prince, Obviously she and Kate will have plenty in common.
Perhaps Kate will wear one of her Amanda Wakeley dresses?

Like William and Kate, Prince Frederik and Princess Mary make a lovely couple :)

"Their Royal highnesses will seek to raise awareness of the crisis in East Africa, and life saving supplies are getting through to children and families affected. So far, UNICEF has delivered more than ten thousand metric tonnes of supplies to the region treated 108,000 severely malnourished children in therapeutic feeding centres and vaccinated 1.2 million against measles".

I'm delighted to hear the Cambridge's are making this trip which will raise much needed awareness for UNICEF. For more information on their work or if you wish to make a donation Click Here.

You may have noticed the above photo of William and Kate is new. It is the couples official photograph, The photos were taken by Getty award winning photographer, Chris Getty. (With thanks to What Kate Wore) Chris shot the photos in Clarence house before the tour of Canada. Kate is wearing her beautiful navy Amanda Wakeley suit.

Duchess Kate has been continuing visiting museums. Today she was spotted at the Victoria and Albert Museum. The museum is known as one of the greatest in terms of art and design. Kate studied Art History at University and I expect she is interested in culture and art. Grace Kelly was also deeply passionate about expanding the arts in Monaco too. (I always think there's a little of Grace in Kate :))

One of the ladies who saw Kate yesterday was kind enough to tweet me, She saw Kate in department store Harvey Nichols in Knightsbridge yesterday. Kate was wearing a biege jumper, pencil skirt and suede boots. A big thank you to Sophie and TammyVia Twitter.

Looking forward to seeing the couple next Wednesday, I will post as soon as photos and news emerge.

William and Kate to visit Africa, Sarah Burton finally speaks, Why 007 thinks Kate is the perfect Bond girl and more

After yesterdays triumphant visit to Copenhagen, The Duchess has been making headlines worldwide today. One of the most interesting stories is the possibility that the Cambridge's may visit Africa in the near future. Duchess Kate told an aid worker that she intended to visit Kenya 'soon'. The region obviously has a special place in the young couples heart. It was just over a year ago William proposed to Kate in the beautiful surrounds of Kenya's Lake Rutundu while on holiday at the Lewa Downs Wildlife Sanctuary.

Prince William has described Africa as 'close to his heart'. He went on his first overseas engagement with Prince Harry to Botswana last year. He also trekked through Africa to raise funds for Africa. If the Cambridge's make this trip they will be following in Diana's footsteps. In 1993 she travelled to Zimbabwe and fed starving children at a red cross station. Should the couple make the trip it is expected it will be in June 2012 as William has expressed an interest in running a marathon on June 30.

Duchess Kate met former James Bond actor and UNICEF ambassador, Roger Moore yesterday. Sir Roger paid tribute to the royal couple for their 'passionate' interest in supporting UNICEF. He described how the royal couple reminded him of Diana and why he thinks the Duchess is the perfect Bond girl!

"I think comparisons are odious but Diana did wonderful things in bringing the world's attention to the danger of landmines and I think their royal highnesses are showing an equal interest.
Kate is the epitome of a bond girl with her beauty both inside and out and just like one of the Bond portrayals, Kate shines and awards massive attention to anything she's involved with".

A press conference for the new Bond movie 'Skyfall' was held today, Below Daniel Craig is pictured with Bond girls  Berenice Marlohe and Naomie Harris. I could see Kate doing this in another life. She's easily beautiful enough..... :)

Sarah Burton has finally revealed how she kept the huge secret about designing Kate's wedding dress. The designer revealed the project was closely guarded and ever her parents didn't know. Speaking about designing the world famous ivory silk and lace gown.

"It was so great to actually keep a secret, especially in this day and age when everyone talks about everything.
I remember standing in Westminster Abbey and thinking this is unreal. It was like a fairytale. And all I could think was 'I hope I don't trip over'. I didn't realise the enormity of it until much nearer the wedding day. It was a magical experience".

The Duchess has been crowned 'Best Dressed 2011' by Harper's Bazaar UK. The judges included Kate's favourites, Milliner Philip Treacy and designer Roskanda Ilinic. Kate represents the fact that British style is 'endlessly varied, peerlessly elegant and gloriously unpredictable'. I'm thrilled to hear Kate is receiving due credit for her classic, timeless style. Others included on the list were model Kate Moss and actress Keira Knightley.

Continuing on with Kate style news, The lovely ladies at What Kate Wore have discovered  that Kate's Pied a Terre wedges have been reissued. The £75 shoes are perfect for spring/summer wear and look amazing teamed with skinny jeans. Kate's pair are black and she has worn them numerous times.

I'm sure have all heard the rumours that Kate is yet again pregnant. She was photographed holding her stomach in several photographs yesterday and members of the press commented on the fact she looked tired, drawn and a little unwell. Of course it is entirely possible she is expecting but she may have been feeling under the weather from travelling. I was also disappointed to read how harshly she has been judged on her interview yesterday. It is the first time Kate has spoken publicly since the engagement interview. She is obviously aware millions are watching and has always been a shy and private person. I do think she did an excellent job and supported UNICEF wonderfully. Anyone would have been nervous and I do think she deserves praise as it's a daunting task.

Finally I want to share a photo of Kate at the airport before departing from Copenhagen. (With thanks to Lilting Times Via Twitter)
