Kate wears something old to the wedding of 'royal matchmaker'

Kate has never been one to wear an item of clothing once then discard it and today was no exception. The Duchess of Cambridge attended the wedding of jockey Sam Waley-Cohen and party organiser Bella Balin wearing a black and white spot monochrome dress. Kate was previously photographed wearing it back in 2007 after she and William had broken up. She wore the satin dress with a chunky belt, black shrug and her hair swept back on a night out at the Boujis nightclub again accompanied by her sister Pippa. However Kate obviously felt the dress deserved a second outing. This team worn with a skinny black belt and the black Philip Treacy hat she wore today while supporting William at Trooping The Colour.

Sam Waley-Cohen has been credited with rekindling the romance between William and Kate after their brief split. Kate greeted him with great affection and appeared very happy. I think Kate looked very chic today, Her dress looked new. I admire the way she keeps her clothes in such magnificent condition. She also has a keen eye for fashion making the dress look more chic than the first time she wore it.

We have all been eager to find out how Prince William will be spending his 30th birthday. Apparently he will be working so it will be a low key celebration.

The Most Noble Order of the Garter, founded in 1348 by Edward III, is the highest order of chivalry existing in England. St George is the patron saint of the ceremony. The Queen appoints the Knights of the Garter without advice from ministers and this year there will be no new Knights installed into the order. Interestingly Prince William was the 1000th Knight in the register when he joined the Order in 2008. There can only be 24 members of the order at a given time, so it is a huge honour to be chosen.

The Order's members must wear vestments for ceremonial occasions. Members have worn the blue velvet robe since the 16th century. The heraldic shield of St. George is sewn onto the left shoulder of the robe. The hat is a Tudor Bonnet of black velvet with a plume of white ostrich and black heron fathers.

Before the service Her Majesty and the Duke of Edinburgh hosted a lunch in The Waterloo Chambers at Windsor Castle. The Queen's Sovereigns' Luncheon was also held there on May 18th. You can take a virtual tour of the chambers here. They were joined by other royals and members and officers of the Garter.

Kate first attended the ceremony in 2008 when William was installed as a Knight wearing a black polka dot tailored suit and a Philip Treacy hat. Last year she attended for the first time as Duchess of Cambridge wearing a striking Katherine Hooker suit. Which garter outfit is your favourite?

Kate recycled the Alexander McQueen cotton and wool blend piqué coat she wore to Trooping the Colour last year. We never saw the coat fully at Trooping and I must say it is a beautiful piece, sophisticated and elegant yet the shorter length gives it a youthful flare. The sculptured coat dress was available for €1,676 reduced from €2,395 and is described as

'Alexander McQueen's sculpturally tailored white cotton and wool blend piqué coat is an exquisite choice for a modern bride. Step into pumps to accentuate the elegantly tiered Samurai skirt and accentuate the sharp shoulders with chandelier earrings'.

Kate wore her beautiful green amethyst Kiki McDonough 18ct gold and diamond drop earrings. They were reportedly a Christmas gift from William. They were available for €2,2271 and are described as

'Make a satorial sparkle with these 18ct gold, citrine and diamond earrings by Kiki McDonough. It will make a precious gift for any style savvy women. These diamond pave small hoop earrings are set in 18ct gold'.

I thought the entire look was wonderful, absolutely love the McQueen coat dress. What did you think?

Kate recycles break up dress for the wedding of 'royal matchmaker'

It is ironic that Kate first wore the dress after her very public split with William, Today wearing it to the wedding of their alleged 'matchmaker'. A happy ending for William and Kate, and Sam Waley-Cohen and his new bride!

Another outfit change for Kate as she attends friends wedding with Pippa

It certainly has been an eventful day for the Duchess of Cambridge. This morning she supported William at the Trooping the Colour ceremony. Wearing an ivory dress coat Kate looked elegant. Just hours later she attended the wedding of close friend Sam Waley-Cohen. The jump jockey is known as the 'royal matchmaker' after being credited for helping William and Kate rekindle their romance after their brief split in 2007. Kate matched the black Philip Treacy hat she wore at the Trooping the Colour ceremony with a fitted monochrome spot pattern dress. The Duchess is known for wearing her items more than once. She was photographed wearing the same dress back in 2007.

Accompanied by her sister Pippa Middleton wearing a green embellished jacket, the pair appeared to be enjoying the day and catching up. One guest said: 'It was a fantastic wedding and I saw Kate arrive at the church with her sister after she apparently drove herself there. She arrived about twenty minutes before the service started and was very relaxed and happy. When the wedding had finished Kate joined the others in making an avenue outside the church for the newlyweds to walk through. There was security but it was very low key. Kate looked lovely but did her best not to overshadow the bride'.
