Kate's Latest Purchases + Royal Documentary + More

Hello Duchess Kate readers,
While William and Harry played polo on Saturday, Kate was spotted on the Kings Road shopping. A writer from Grazia happened to be browsing in the same shops and revealed the Duchess was wearing a pair of tight black sports trousers, a cream cropped cardigan over a white T - shirt, a pair of casual trainers and her favourite Mulberry polly push lock bag. Kate purchased two items in French Connection. (I recently read the brand was in financial difficulty, so perhaps 'The Kate Effect' will boost sales)

Kate bought the Winter Silk Vest Top in iceberg blue. The top is currently on sale and available in a variety of colours from £27 to £49.

French Connection

Kate also reportedly bought the Tiffany Jeans in vintage wash (With many thanks to Ashley). The low rise, skinny fit jeans are $108. They have stitch detailing on the back pockets and have a faded wash. I think the jeans and top with a pair of ballet flats would look amazing on Kate, perfect casual look.

Kate's protection officer was seen carrying an armful of bags from luxury British brand Jaeger. We mentioned the brand before as they designed the new uniforms for staff at Kensington Palace. Kate reportedly bought the Silk Printed Wrap Dress for £240. The elegant dress would be ideal for the upcoming garden party at Buckingham Palace, or perhaps Kate will save it for the tour?

Finally Kate popped into Anthropologie where she spent time browsing. Kate contemplated purchasing the £158 Ines Column Dress and the Luscious Langoustine Dinner Plate (not exactly the type of tableware one would see at Kensington but perhaps a fun item for a small dinner party at Anglesey :)) However Kate left empty handed. Possible future purchases in my opinion.

We all know the Royal family are notoriously private but Katie Couric has managed to get a rare interview with Prince William and Prince Harry as part of the lead up to the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. In the preview William jokingly remarks: 'As I learned from growing up, you don't mess with your grandmother'. The interview also features an exclusive tour of Buckingham Palace. It airs on ABC, May 29th. You can watch the preview here.

While we're on the topic of videos. Did many of you see the ITV documentary 'William and Kate The First Year'. I thought it was a nice summary of the couple's first year together. If you wish to watch it, click on the links below :)

Kate Spotted in London Wearing Black Dress, Paralympic Schedule + More

Good evening Duchess Kate readers,

It certainly has been a quiet couple of weeks for Kate but that's all set to change with the Paralympics and the royal tour of South-East Asia. William and Kate have been in Anglesey since the Olympics and returned to London today. The couple were seen driving into Clarence House, no doubt in preparation for the coming weeks.

One lucky passer-by G De Siena walked past Kate just off the Kings Road and shared a photo via Twitter. According to the tweet "people's faces were priceless".

Kate was on her way to the Richard Ward Salon to get her hair done.

Kate wore a black jersey dress, very similar to an Issa dress she was spotted wearing days before the royal wedding whilst shopping in London. On closer inspection it would appear the sleeves on the Issa dress are significantly different.

It is thought the dress is either the $80 Zara Dress With Pleat On Sleeves.

or the Alexander McQueen Fine-Knit Wool Dress (With thanks to the lovely ladies over at What Kate Wore Facebook and to all of you who took the time to comment here)

Kate appears to be wearing her LK Bennett Greta wedges.

William and Kate will join the Queen tomorrow night for the Paralympic Games Opening Ceremony at the Olympic Stadium. Award-winning film director Stephen Daldry heads the team behind the ceremony, which has a cast of over 3,000 volunteers. The ceremony begins at 8 pm BST.

The Palace released some information today regarding events the couple will be attending. All engagements are provisional and I expect many more will be added as the games progress.

  • Thursday August 30 - The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will cheer on Team GB at Goalball and Track Cycling. Kate will attend the swimming also.
  • Sunday September 2 - The Duchess of Cambridge will attend the athletics at Olympic Park.

Kate Loves: Nightclubs

For the second installment of our 'Kate Loves' series let's take a look at Kate's favourite nightclubs. I sincerely doubt we shall ever see Kate emerging from one of these venues again but for those of you planning a trip to London, hoping to get a taste of Kate's favourite places, I think it will be helpful and as always it's wonderful to look back on Kate's younger years.

During William and Kate's brief split in 2007, Kate enjoyed many a girls night out in Mahiki nightclub. Situated on Dover Street, Mayfair, it is known as 'the destination for the cocktail lover'.

Mahiki is set over two floors. With it's tiki decor, tropical flowers and fresh fruit cocktails     one is guaranteed a unique night out. Mahiki has become one of the world's best known clubs since it's conception in 2005. Celebrating your birthday? Mahiki has a number of exciting packages to cater for various tastes including 'The Green Room' which includes a surprise birthday performance.

A cocktail in Mahiki would roughly cost you between £10 and £15. The 'Pirate Daiquiri' looks promising :)

You can follow Mahiki via Twitter and Facebook.

One of William and Kate's favourite 'date night' destinations pre engagement has got to be South Kensington nightclub Boujis.

Boujis has enjoyed eight years as the premium nightclub in London. (When your clientele includes the future King and Queen of England, you're doing something right) However there is a dress code at Boujis and a table carry a minimum spend.

Boujis certainly knows how to throw a party. Famous for their 80's themed parties, One can tell a huge amount of planning and thoughts goes into throwing the perfect party. Each year the owners host an event at the Royal enclosure in Ascot.

For the latest news check out Twitter and Facebook.

Mamilanji was another popular spot for Kate. Below we see her leaving the club in 2007 wearing a Zara print dress.

The modern club is located on 127 Kings Road. The stunning club attracts a host of celebs and A listers hence the very strict guest list. There are two bar areas situated over two floors upstairs. The restaurant and terrace are classically decorated and the bar service is said to be the best in London.

I have more 'Kate loves' posts planned, restaurants, hobbies. Are there any others you would like to see included? Please leave a comment below and I won't forgot to add your suggestion in.

In Kate news, William and Harry are currently enjoying a shooting weekend in Southern Spain, they are guests of the Duke of Westminster. I expect Kate is enjoying some time with her family as she hasn't been spotted shopping in London or in Anglesey.
