The Royals were all smiles upon arrival and looking very stylish, I might add :)

All three royals have a keen interest in sport. Kate excelled at hockey, netball and tennis during her time in Marlborough College so this was an ideal engagement for the young royals.

Coach Core is a new sports coaching initiative which aims to train 16-19 year olds to become qualified sports coaches and mentors for their schools and communities. The programme is a partnership between The Royal Foundation of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry and charity Greenhouse.

The Greenhouse charity puts inspirational coaches into schools and community clubs to work with 8-18 year olds. Football, basketball, table tennis, volleyball, judo, swimming, dance and drama are just some of the programmes offered by the coaches who target young people most in need of support in the hopes of achieving improved engagement within the community, improved health and wellbeing and improved effort with education. Kate played table tennis with the students. Beacon's College is home to six of the top players in the UK but the Duchess held her own missing only a few points.

The Duchess then joined the Princes outside to watch the football. One of the boys asked the Princes 'Are you two brothers?' to which Harry jokingly replied 'We're not sure'.

Prince William gave a very entertaining speech.

'Watching me on the football field is never a pretty sight  - the expression giraffe on ice springs to mind. However it is marginally less embarrassing than seeing my brother cheat his way to becoming the fastest man on the planet'.

Speaking about Kate's sporting talents :)

'Catherine on the other hand, with a tennis racquet or a hockey stick is something to behold and be aware of'.

It was an incredibly fun event and one the royals appeared to enjoy immensely.

Now onto Kate's style. Upon arrival the colour of her dress was the topic of much debate among the press :)

Kate wore the Hobbs Check Wessex Dress (With thanks to Irene) At first glance I thought it was a designer piece, possibly Burberry. It's a very pretty summer dress and quite reminiscent of Kate's pre engagement style. It was originally £119 then reduced to £35 on sale but is unfortunately now sold out. It is described as

'Our bestselling Wessex dress returns for Spring/Summer 2012 in a new grey and white checked print. It features a flattering 50's inspired silhouette with a full skirt and nipped in waist'.

A look at the back of the dress.

Kate teamed her dress with the white Hobbs Neston belt (With many thanks to the wonderful Michelle) which emphasised her waist and showed off the full skirt. The €11 basic leather belt is sold out.

Kate wore the Pied a Terre Imperia Wedges in taupe (With thanks to Fiona and Ashley) The Duchess has a pair of the Imperia's in black and wore them during the Canada tour. The simple slingback espadrille wedges have a round toe and are available in several colours for £80.

Kate accessorized with her double pearl earrings.

The couple's schedule is below.

  • Tuesday 11th September - Singapore
  • Thursday 13th September - Malaysia/Borneo
  • Sunday 16th September - Solomon Islands
  • Tuesday 18th-19th September - Tuvalu

The couple will be representing the Queen in celebration of her Diamond Jubilee and they will be the first members of the Royal family to visit the Pacific Island of Tuvalu, an area of just ten square miles since the Queen and Prince Philip sailed there in 1982.

'St James's Palace announced that the couple will arrive in Singapore on September 11, moving on to Kuala Lumpur and the Malaysian province of Sabah, Borneo and flying to Tuvalu via the Solomon Islands, finishing the tour on the Polynesian Island on September 19'.

More details and the itinerary are expected to be released in a month or so but we do know the couple plan to visit a rainforest

'During their stay in Borneo they will visit a rainforest where they could come face to face with orangutans, and where they are likely to learn about efforts to preserve the world's oldest rainforest, which dates back 130 million years'.

As always, a huge thank you to royal correspondents, Rebecca English, Richard Palmer, Georgina Brewer and Paul Harrison for sharing photos and information from the event with us. William, Kate and Harry will welcome the Olympic torch to Buckingham Palace at approximately 18.35 today. I'll see you all then :)

William and Kate's first engagement was a lunch hosted by the Prime Minister at his official residence. The lunch will include a musical performance by young people supported by a charity of which the Prime Minister's wife is patron.

The couple visited Hospis Malaysia, a leading hospice located in central Kuala Lumpur. Kate is patron of East Anglia's Children's Hospices and is keen to use the visit to learn more about how the hospice movement works in Malaysia.

There is talk of a partnership between EACH and Hospis Malaysia.

Paul Harrison Twitter

Hospis Malaysia is a charitable organisation that offers professional palliative care to patients who are suffering from life-limiting illnesses. Care extended by Hospis Malaysia transcends age, gender, culture, religion, and social standing and is offered free of charge. The organisation is not affiliated with any political or governmental group and depends greatly on public and corporate support. To find out more or if you wish to donate please click here.

William and Kate toured the building and met child and adult users of the hospice and their families. The couple undertook art activities with terminally ill children.

And Kate's tree :)

Kate gave her first overseas speech to patients and staff, drawing on her own experience of the hospice movement in the United Kingdom. The Duchess praised the 'vital and life changing' work of Hospis Malaysia and said she was thrilled it and East Anglia's Children's Hospices would be working together.

'William and I are hugely excited to be in Malaysia - this, our first ever visit and are absolutely delighted to have been invited to join you all here at Hospis Malaysia. It is so exciting to learn about the Country's very first paediatric palliative care programme and to witness for myself something of the wonderful work of Hospis Malaysia's wonderful staff.
As Patron of East Anglia's Childrens Hospice, a UK based charity,I am thrilled to hear that you have been working with Hospis Malaysia, and that you plan to collaborate as you roll out this new programme. Through this patronage, I have learnt that delivering the best possible palliative care to children is vital. Providing children and their families with a place of support, care and enhancement at a time of great need is simply life changing. With effective palliative care lives can be transformed. Treatment, support, care and advice can provide a lifeline to families at a time of great need.
This is a very special place and so much has already been achieved. It has been wonderful meeting the patients, families and staff here - you have given us the most wonderful welcome.
Thank you again for inviting us here - and all the very best to this exciting new initiative'.

Kate sounded confident and assured. A great deal of thought and planning obviously went into the speech. We also saw Kate focusing on the work of hospices, something I can see her working closely with in the future. You can watch Kate's speech here.

William was deployed in the Falklands when Kate gave her inaugural speech at EACH in March, and I'm sure Kate was delighted to have her husband by her side for what was quite possibly a daunting experience.

Paul Harrison Twitter

William is a veteran when it comes to speech making following years of practice. I expect he had many helpful tips to offer the Duchess and no doubt it was a special moment for him to see his wife give her first overseas speech. When Kate finished one could see William saying 'well done'.

There was no change of outfit for the Duchess who wore a duck egg blue pleated shirted dress with three quarter sleeves and lace detail by Jenny Packham.

Duchess Kate Dazzles In McQueen at Official Dinner

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge attended an official dinner given by His Majesty The Agong at his official residence, the Istana Negara, in Kuala Lumpur.

The Duke and Duchess signed a visitors book before entering the Istana Negara.

The couple chatted with guests and Kate admitted she was very nervous about today's speech 'I am very glad it's over with' she laughed. The Duchess of the opulent palace 'It's beautiful. those chandeliers are wonderful. It's amazing'. William said Kate was suffering from jet lag and jokingly revealed he would love to swim with whale sharks

We have been waiting to see Kate wear a full length evening gown and while the Duchess didn't wear a tiara as hoped she certainly didn't disappoint in the style stakes.

The Duchess wore a bespoke long cream gown by Alexander McQueen. The stunning gown features an overleaf of sheer material embroidered gold hibiscuses, the Malaysian flower. The dress has a sweetheart neckline, a full skirt and fitted bodice. What do you all think of the dress? Thus far there appears to be mixed reactions with many of the opinion the neckline was too low.

A look at the exquisite detailing on the dress.

The McQueen Pre Spring 2013 Collection features gold in many of their pieces. Below we look at the McQueen Silk Chiffon Bustier Dress a draped bustier dress with an internal bodice. It is quite similar to Kate's and available for €2,145 in green and €3,645 in black print.

Kate wore her hair half up half down.

Kate wore the €544 Scale Bracelet and the £80 Double Leaf Earrings by Catherine Zoraida (With many thanks to the wonderful What Kate Wore) Kate carried her gold Wilbur and Gussie clutch bag.

Royal correspondent Rebecca English said Kate looked like a fairytale princess.

After posing for a group photograph the couple received gifts. The Duchess was given a pair of black lace peep toe shoes and a glittering clutch bag by Malaysian designer Lewre the Malaysian equivalent of Jimmy Choo. Kate was also given a traditional Batik dress.
