Royal Family face funding cut!

On Friday April 29th, hundreds of police officers lined the streets along Westminster Abbey as Kate Middleton married Prince William. The total cost of the wedding is in the region of twenty million pounds. Largely due to police officers earning double time for working on the public holiday and security. One week later Ministers are planning to 'shake up' the royal finances. Treasury sources have made clear that they are planning for the Queen and her family to receive a serious reduction in their annual £39.9 million income. Chris Heaton-Harris a conservative MP said 'The royal family is a tremendous asset to this country and it is important they are properly funded. However, they would no doubt be the first to realise these are tough times and families all over the country are having to make sacrifices.

Prince Andrew's daughters Beatrice and Eugenie are reportedly going to lose their £500,000 a year security detail. The princesses, fifth and sixth in line to the throne, are set to receive protection only when they attend official events on behalf of the royal family.  Prince Andrew has fought furiously with Scotland yard over this. His argument failed because Princess Margaret's daughter, Zara Philips has no royal protection despite having a higher public profile, especially with her upcoming wedding to rugby player, Mike Tindall.  The Queen has made it abundantly clear that she wishes Beatrice and Eugenie to pursue their own careers after University, rather than go on the civil list as working members of the royal family. Prince Charles is said to be relieved by this. Andrew has become an embarrassment to the family since his controversial activities as UK trade ambassador, not to mention his ex wife Sarah Ferguson who was taped by a UK paper selling information and promising an alliance with the royal family for cash. Her documentary 'Finding Sarah' is set to air in the states soon.
With William and Kate planning state visits to Canada and California in the coming months, security is surely first priority. Kate was pictured shopping at her local Waitrose with her royal protection officer, given the level of public and media interest, security is essential for royals. However, for minor royals like Beatrice and Eugenie £500,000 annually seems quite excessive in these recessionary times. This will continue to be a controversial issue and it shall be interesting to see how these cuts affect the royal family William and Kate have refused servants in their six bedroomed Anglesey home. With a new generation of royals we may see a reduction in lavish spending.

There are many avenues which could be explored to alleviate overspending, but should security be one? Only time will tell if the reduction in protection officers will hold negative results.

'Global Superstars' William and Kate Set Down in Singapore + View Diana's Orchid at Botanic Gardens

The wait is finally over! The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's eagerly anticipated royal tour of South-East Asia has officially begun.

William and Kate touched down at Singapore's Changi International Airport at 2.30 p.m. SGT and will spend the next nine days touring  Singapore, Malaysia, Solomon Islands and Tuvalu in celebration of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. The destinations were chosen by the Queen for the Cambridges second major overseas tour and the young royals looked incredibly excited.

Principal Private Secretary and Equerry to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton said:

'The aim of this tour is to celebrate The Queen's Diamond Jubilee. The Duke and Duchess will use the tour to pay tribute through what they do and say, and who they meet, to The Queen's lifetime of dedication to the mix of peoples and cultures that make up all of Her Majesty's Realms and the Commonwealth. The Tour will comprise a mixture of formal and informal moment which reflect these aims and the Duke and Duchess's charachters and interests specifically'.

The couple were met by representatives of the Singaporean Government and the British High Commissioner. Kate has never been to any of the places on the tour according to aides so it's very exciting for the Duchess to embrace new countries and cultures.

Senior Parliamentary Secretary for the Ministry of Defence Dr Maliki Osman greeted the couple and his wife chatted with Kate about shopping at Bicester
'Kate asked about my three children and what ages they are. We talked about the UK and particularly about shopping in Bicester. I said I've been there and I love it and she said she does as well. She said it's great how everything is so contained. She also asked me about the flowers I gave her, she said they are very unusual and what are they. I said I'm not sure but I think they're two types of orchids'.

The buzz in Singapore is nothing short of amazing. British High Commissioner Antony Phillipson described William and Kate as 'Global superstars who make the British feel very very good about themselves'.

Kate looked lovely in a kimono style pale pink dress with an orchid pattern and three-quarter sleeves by the wonderful Jenny Packham. The dress was obviously chosen because of the orchid naming ceremony in the couple's honour at the Botanic Gardens. A lovely tribute. According to Grazia Kate commissioned the UK designer to design the Asian influenced dress. Ms Packham showcases her Spring/Summer 2013 Collection at NY Fashion Week today.  Kate wore her half up half down, a very elegant look.

It was a poignant visit for the couple who viewed the 'Diana' orchid in the VIP garden. Diana was due to visit Singapore to view the orchid but due to her untimely and tragic death she was never able to make the journey.

The orchid breeding programme of the Singapore Botanic Gardens was initiated by Prof. Eric Holttum in 1928 and outstanding hybrids from this programme established the reputation of the Gardens' orchid programme. As Singapore orchids gained fame, it became obvious they should be used as agents to promote goodwill. From 1957 the Singapore government began to honour VIPs by naming orchids after them. William and Kate's orchid will join Diana's, The Queen's and Nelson Mandela's in the garden.

Kate Loves: Beauty Products

Duchess Kate always looks impeccable, her choice of beauty products and skincare routine is clearly serving her well. If you have ever wanted to emulate Kate's make up or just wondered what products she carries in her clutch, this is a post for you :)

Moisturiser: Each and every one of you can attest to the fact a good moisturiser is a vital item in your beauty bag. I know from personal experience (and much experimentation) the most expensive does not necessarily mean the best for your skin type. Kate has obviously discovered this too. Kate has been spotted stocking up on Nivea Visage Pure and Natural at her local Boots store. The £5.10 moisturising day cream contains effective, organically grown natural ingredients.

Nivea

Cleanser: According to Karin Herzog's UK managing director, Kate uses a number of the brands products. The Switzerland based brand is described as 'the original and the best, true oxygen based therapy, proven to deliver back to the skin oxygen, water and essential vitamins'. Kate uses the £33 Professional Cleansing Cream. The cleanser works to dislodge blockages in the skin, and when removed literally sucks out the dirt.

Karin Herzog

Face Cream: Kate uses the Karin Herzog Oxygen Face Cream. The product should be applied morning and night, to the face and neck without massaging into the skin. The cream is described as very well suited to younger users. It's non-oily texture means there is no oily residue left on the surface of the skin. It is £36 for 50ml.

Karin Herzog

Spot Zapper: To banish spots, cold sores, boils and blisters Kate uses the Karin Herzog Vita A Kombi 3. The acne cream is described as 'extremely effective'. It is £21.50 for the handy 15ml tube, which will easily fit into your purse.

Karin Herzog

Foundation: Kate chose to do her own make up for the royal wedding and reportedly uses Bobbi Brown Moisture Rich Foundation. The popular foundation provides SPF 15 sun protection while it hydrates skin. It is available in various shades for $46.

Bobbi Brown

Concealer Pen: The YSL Touche Éclat Concealer Pen has been described as a 'miracle pen'. The $40 gold pen brightens around the eyes managing to erase fatigue.

YSL

Mascara: Kate is rarely photographed without her trademark black mascara and eyeliner on. To create the illusion of longer lashes Kate uses Lancome Custom Wear Volume Mascara. With its 1,000 sensor bristles, the brush delivers made to measure lash volume that you control with each sweep. It is available for £21.

Lancome

Eyeliner: Kate uses the £16 Lancome Crayon Khol eyeliner to define the colour of her eyes.

Lancome

Eyeshadow: To create the perfect smokey eye, Kate uses the Get In Line Smokey Eyeshadow and Stencil Kit. It is available for $36.

Bettes Boutique

Blush: Kate uses the pale pink Bobbi Brown Blush to add a little colour to her cheeks. The formula glides on smoothly and offers a matter finish. It is $24.

Bobbi Brown

Bronzer: To give her cheekbones a shimmer Kate applies the Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick Compact. The brush on powder is $39.

Bobbi Brown

Lips: Kate favours darker eye make up and balances the look out with a neutral lip. The Duchess wears the $23 Bobbi Brown Sandwashed Pink Lipstick with a layer of pale pink lip gloss.

Bobbi Brown

Nail Polish: Kate wears Essie nail polish, mostly opting for pale pinks. However recently Kate has been experimenting with darker colours. Essie comes in all colours for $8 per bottle.

Essie

Perfume: Kate wore White Gardenia Petals by UK brand Illuminum for the royal wedding. It is described as 'As fragrant as a vase of white flowers, this is a delicate and refined perfume. The top not of Lily evokes a tropical seaside location, Amber wood underscores the light and capricious bouquet'. You can purchase the perfume for $140.

UPDATED: Photos Of A Tanned William And Kate In Mustique

Pop Sugar

In very unexpected news, a collection of photos from William and Kate's holiday and airport departure at Mutstique have emerged. I certainly did not think we would be seeing these, a pleasant surprise :) The gorgeous photos of William and Kate published here by the wonderful Popsugar soaking up the sun and enjoyed a meal under a sheltered hut. It's incredible how secluded Mustique is. The area William and Kate were photographed in is rather remote. Not another visitor.

Duchess Kate, Prince William and the Middleton family were photographed boarding a plane destined for St.Lucia before returning to the UK after spending a fortnight in the luxurious Mustique.

Pippa looked happy and chic in a white sun dress, Yesterday the family celebrated mother Carole's 57th birthday. I expect they celebrated the night before with a quiet family dinner.

We haven't seen new photos of Kate in weeks and these certainly don't disappoint. Kate looks beautiful and tanned. I adore Kate's 'off duty' style and her hair looks fabulous up.

Duchess Kate wore a lovely black and white Milly Gabrielle Jacket from the Fall 2010 collection. Kate was seen a number of months ago purchasing quite a few items at her local Milly stockist. Milly designs could be a regular addition to Kate's wardrobe in my opinion. The jacket was available with a mini skirt combo for $525. It is currently sold out. (With many thanks to Debbie WKW FB)

Kate teamed her jacket with pied a terre wedge sandals, black J Brand skinny jeans and a white Warehouse kimono top. Kate wore the top on a shopping trip to John Lewis last year. Beautiful look!

Thousands of British and other Commonwealth servicemen lost their lives in the defence of Singapore and the subsequent occupation by Japanese forces and as future King and Queen Consort the Duke and Duchess wished to pay tribute to their sacrifice.

There are 4,641 World War II casualties buried or commemorated at the cemetery, of which more than 850 of these are unidentified. There are 64 World War I headstones, of which three commemorate casualties known to have been buried elsewhere but whose graves could not be found.

William and Kate specifically asked to pay their respects to UK and Australian Z special unit heroes. The Duchess carried a parasol, no doubt the heat and humidity is difficult for the couple who are used to a much cooler climate.

The Duke and Duchess laid a wreath made of local flowers at the War Memorial and met with veterans and serving military from Singapore, Britain, Australia and New Zealand.

The couple will travel on a scheduled flight to Kulala Lumpur, Malaysia , where they will be met at the International airport by representatives of the Malaysian government and the British High Commission. The royals will attend a lunch hosted by the Prime Minister and visit Hospis Malaysia where Kate will make her first overseas speech. In the evening William and Kate will attend a state dinner at His Majesty The Agong's official residence. Could this be the tiara moment we've all been waiting for? It's going to be an amazing day......
