Upcoming Events, Kate Recycles Erdem + More

Hello to you all,

I have been in touch with two photo agencies and registered with them. Luckily this means I will have photos from official engagements. I love writing this blog and will do my utmost to continue to write good quality posts despite the lack of illustration at times. Again I wish to thank you all for your wonderful messages and emails of support. I hope to reply to all of you as soon as I can. Now let's get back to business and see what has been going on in Kate's world :)

Tonight's post begins with some disappointing news. William and Kate were expected to present prizes at the Badminton Horse Trials on May 7th. However due to the recent weather in Britain (I'm sure you've noticed it has been raining constantly during Kate's recent engagements) the event has been cancelled. It is a terrible pity as the event is so popular. The following statement was released:

"The recent exceptional rainfall has left the ground at Badminton totally waterlogged and partially flooded. Further rain is due this week leaving no chance of the ground drying out. Very sadly therefore the Mitsubishi Motors Badminton Horse Trials has been cancelled."

However there is good news too........

William and Kate will attend their first joint engagement as Olympic Ambassadors on Friday May 11th at the Royal Albert Hall. The gala Our Greatest Team Rises will see the couple join their fellow Team GB ambassadors in encouraging fans throughout the UK to unite in showing their support for athletes who are preparing to represent Team GB and Paralympics GB at the London 2012 games.

The black tie event (we can expect to see Kate in a stunning evening gown) features a spectacular line up of Britain's best entertainers including Gary Barlow, Will Young and X Factor presenter Dermot O Leary.

A table at the event could set you back £10,000. If you're interested all relevant booking details are here. I'm looking forward to seeing William and Kate attend another black tie event :)

William and Kate attended the wedding of their friends Hannah Gillingham and Rob Carter at St Andrew's Church, Wingfield, Suffolk, accompanied by Kate's sister Pippa. No doubt memories of their own wedding flooded back as they watched friends exchange vows on the eve of their first anniversary. There are many wonderful photos from the event. To view all 61 of them please pop over to Popsugar.

St Andrew's is a church with fine monuments and stately Chancel, it is one of the most beautiful in Suffolk. The building of the present church began in 1362. With large perpendicular windows the natural lighting inside the church is beautiful.

A guest at the wedding commented on William and Kate

"They were beaming, their entrance to the church even caused a bit of comic relief. They sat close to the front of the chruch, so they had to walk down the aisle to get there. It made a few people chuckle."

Kate recycled the beautiful Erdem Cecile Dress she wore her in Ottawa during the first day of the Canada tour. The lace dress is from the 2012 resort collection and $2,850. It is described as
"Sumptuous navy lace envelopes this Cecile fitted Erdem dress with grace and texture."

Kate wore a studded Alexander McQueen belt. It was on sale for €126 but is now sold out. The black glossed leather belt adds an edge to any dress or blazer. (With thanks to The Way We Were and WKW FB)

Duchess Kate wore a custom made version of the Erdem Tegan Tweed Jacket. (With thanks to the wonderful ladies at What Kate Wore Facebook) Kate's does not have the houndstooth detail instead lace trim matching the Cecile dress. The Tegan Tweed is available for €1,176 and described as

"Make an elegant edition to your evening ensembles with this navy Tegan tweed jacket by Erdem, Layer it over a floral print dress for an ultra feminine after hours look."

Kate carried her Anya Hindmarch Marano Clutch. It is available for £495.

Kate also wore a navy hat, her Prada pumps and sapphire earrings. I thought it an excellent sartorial selection. The Erdem Cecile is a beautiful dress and the Tegan jacket looked wonderful with it. What did you think of the entire look?

We know the couple opted for a low key anniversary but how did they celebrate it? According to several media reports the couple returned to their farmhouse in Anglesey in time for a romantic dinner, which Kate is said to have planned for weeks. Kate reportedly made 'fish en papillote' in parchment to mark their first anniversary which is symbolised by paper. William has returned to work early this week after the quite celebration.

If you'd like to attempt fish en papillote yourself you can find an excellent recipe here. I'm no culinary genius myself but this looks manageable and delicious. (My fiancĂ© just noted fish and chips from the local takeaway would suffice as they are wrapped in paper, I hope William didn't say that to Kate after the hard work she put in preparing the meal :))

Due to popular demand Rebecca Taylor has reissued the blue bouclĂ© suit from the resort 2011/2012 collection Kate wore in London last Thursday. The New Zealand born designer was delighted to learn Kate had worn her pieces. She told Vogue UK

"I am a Catherine Middleton freak - ever since she came on the scene I said 'I want to dress that girl'. It's a dream come true....... She is a perfect model for our clothes. It fits her so well, it had a grown up appeal - but it still looks youthful".
Kate looked lovely in Rebecca Taylor. I expect we will be seeing Kate in more of her pieces in the near future. (The following photo is used with the very kind permission of royal photographer Mark Stewart. Mark is not only an incredibly nice man but a fabulous photographer. You can check out some of his work on his tumblr)
